Ocean water transitions

The abrupt change of color going from green to blue is very dramatic. Water depth changes sharply and along with it comes this interesting water colors. Since this is a lagoon, it gives rise to these transitions of shallow and deep waters.

Tahitian Princess Cruise ship

We went on the Tahitian Princess cruise ship. It is much smaller than most and had a passenger capacity of 600. Small and cozy. These are small islands and cannot cater to the massive cruiseships that go to most other destinations.

Along a beach in Tahitian islands

The water around these South Pacific islands is so picturesque that you need to see it to believe it. The shallow waters extend thousands of feet beyond the beach and is lush green in color. As the water gets deeper it turns to blue. Visibility extends easily to the bottom while in shallow waters.

Our 25th Anniversary Tahiti vacation

2007 is our 25th marriage anniversary and we decided to celebrate it in Tahiti. We flew to the capital of Tahiti, Papeete and immediately got on a Princess cruise ship for a 10-day cruise. We visited 5 islands - Tahiti, Huahine, Raitea, Rarotonga & Bora Bora. While we went to Rarotonga, we were not able to depart the ship since the waves were too strong. Too bad, since this is supposed to be a beautiful island. But all the other islands were breath-taking and well worth the trip.
